Diffusion Pharmaceuticals Inc. ($DFFN) stock skyrocketed as the company announced receiving U.S. Patent No. 9,604,899 from the USPTO. The patent is related to the company’s lead product candidate trans sodium crocetinate and its entitled  “Bipolar Trans Carotenoid Salts and Their Uses.” With this patent, the coverage of the therapeutic use of TSC and other related compounds to five hypoxia-related conditions including congestive heart failure, chronic renal failure, acute lung injury, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and respiratory distress syndrome.
The company stock jumped over 12 percent on the news, taking its 12 months gains to over 300 percent.

Syngenta AG ($SYT) announced that it has received conditional approval from the European Commission for its acquisition from ChemChina. Both the companies expect the transaction to be closed within the next three months. The $43 billion deal is contingent upon ChemChina divesting “significant parts" of its European pesticide and plant growth regulator business.
Syngenta stock has gained over 7 percent in the past 12 months. Its Year to Date gain stands at over 12 percent. The stock touched its new 52 weeks high in the pre-market session. Syngenta is among the leading pesticide suppliers worldwide. 

 

GlaxoSmithKline ($GSK) reported that it has decided to recall more than 593K Ventolin asthma inhalers  due to a defect that may cause them to deliver fewer doses than indicated. The recall is voluntary and extends to the U.S. hospitals, pharmacies, retailers and wholesalers. The company had received a number of complaints regarding faulty outer packaging.

Innovus Pharmaceuticals Inc. ($INNV) announced receiving the CPNP notification number. This number is required to commercialize lubricant Zestra Glide in the EU comprising of 28 member countries. It is the company's third product to receive the notification in the past two months. The other two products are  Zestra® and Sensum+®.

Roche ($RHHBY) announced receiving 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its CINtec Histology test. It is designed to test for the diagnosis of cervical pre-cancers and is a part of the company’s Cervical Cancer Portfolio, which includes the cobas HPV test and the CINtec PLUS Cytology test.

VBL Therapeutics ($VBLT) reported new data on a novel potential cancer target called MOSPD2. In a mouse model, the use of gene editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 knocked down MOSPD2 leading to a blockade of EGF signaling and a significant reduction of breast cancer cell migration and metastasis.

 

RedHill Biopharma ($RDHL) signed a deal with  Entera Health for the exclusive U.S. rights to EnteraGram. The treatment currently generates over $5 million in annual sales. It is a  medical food for the dietary management of chronic diarrhea and loose stools that is administered under medical supervision. Under the terms of the agreement, RedHill will pay Entera tiered royalties on net sales of EnteraGram. It will also receive certain U.S. rights to dicyclomine hydrochloride oral solution.

Depomed Inc. ($DEPO) reported that it has prepaid $100 million of principal amount of its $475 million secured  debt from  Deerfield and Pharmakon Advisors, LP. Under the terms of the 7-year loan agreement, which matures in 2022, Depomed intends to refinance the remainder of the $375 million secured indebtedness in 2017.  The company also paid a prepayment fee of $4 million.
